Story
Valentine Bike Share (operated by the 501c3 nonprofit ROAM Share) supports public bike access at the current western terminus of the Nebraska’s 317-mile Cowboy Trail. Our goal – create opportunities to explore the Sandhills of Nebraska in ways that promote the health and economic vitality of our Nebraska communities.
The CowVal Bike Ride on Saturday, September 6th is a community bike ride designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Cowboy Trail in Nebraska. Born from the Rails-to-Trails project, the Cowboy Trail represents an incredible amenity for northern Nebraska communities. Beginning in Norfolk heading west, the completed route extends 317 miles to Chadron. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, Valentine Bike Share has big plans to expand access to this landmark project.
CowVal follows the western leg of the Cowboy Trail, starting and ending in Valentine with turnaround options in Wood Lake (52 miles total) and Long Pine (for the full 108 mile route).

Valentine Bike Share sits at the current western terminus of the trail, operating publicly-available, nonprofit bike share. With the addition of pedal-assist ebikes, we dramatically improve access to the trail’s most breathtaking features, habitats, and people.
CowVal is a first-of-its-kind event on the Cowboy Trail, and a unique opportunity to build trail infrastructure that will support the next generation of trail users. Plus, its going to be a really fun time spent on the bike.
