Ages 4 & 5
There will be 3 innings played. Everyone will bats with 5 attempts at the ball. If they are not successful they are out. The batters must war a batters helmet. An out is an out, no if, and, or buts. We will not travel and play other teams we will have 3 or 4 teams with in Valentine to compete against.
Ages 6 & 7
There will be 3 innings of coaches pitch baseball. List your batting orders and follow it. Everyone may bat, but do not bat out of order. Players will get 6 attempts at the ball. If they are not successful they will be called out. If the last attempt at the ball is foul they will have another attempt. Batters and runners must wear a batters helmet. An out is an out, no if, and, or buts. Hustle the players out to the field. We will have to travel one time against Ainsworth, but that is it we will have enough teams to be competitive against each other.
Ages 7-8 (May 1st). 10 players. 4 Innings. 40 ft pitching mound. Bases 60 feet.Games start at 5:30, no starting another inning after 6:30.1 base on overthrow per attempt to get runner out. No leading off. No stealing.Home plate is closed. Crash rule. All runners should make every attempt to avoid collision. Umpire discretion on intent.5 runs per inning limit. Free substitution. 9 Batters before can bat again. Coaches need to play everyone defensively. Bat through the entire lineup. Player pitch/coach pitch, start with 2 ball and 1 strike count, after ball 4, coach pitches. Throw baseball throws not lob ball.Pitching Regular Season: 55 in any 5 day period. 55 in 2 consecutive games. No reentry.Pitching Tournaments: 85 pitches total in tournament (play-in games don’t count). No reentry.Bats don’t exceed 2 ¼ and 33inches long. 1 Batter on Deck.Tournament play is the same as regular season rules.All other rules come from High School Handbook unless otherwise stated above.
Age 9-10, (May 1st). 10 players. 5 innings, 43 ft pitching mound, 60 ft base. Games start 15 minutes after Rookies’ game ends, no starting another inning after 8:30. 2 hour playing time limit. Be ready to play by 6:30pm. One base on overthrow per attempt to get runner out.No advancing on pass ball.No advancing on dropped 3rd strike.Home plate is closed. Even on passed ball.Player can lead off after the ball crosses the plate.Free substitution after 9 batters.Every player needs to make an appearance. Does not apply if game ends early.No playing down, coach can play up at his discretion. 7 runs per inning limit. 10 run rule after 3 innings. Pitching Regular Season: 75 pitches in any 5 day period. 75 pitches in 2 consecutive games. No reentry.Pitching Tournaments: 110 total pitches in tournament (play-in games don’t count). 75 pitches in 2 consecutive games. No reentry. Crash rule. All runners should make every attempt to avoid collision. Umpire discretion on intent. Bats should not exceed 2 ¼ inches in diameter and no more than 33 inches in length. 1 Batter on Deck. Stealing – 1 stolen base per batter. Home is closed. The only way a runner scores from third is a live ball or a bases loaded walk. A runner on third advancing down the line after the pitch runs the risk of getting picked off but cannot advance home. No advancing on overthrow. Advance only 1 base per batter to encourage defense to make a play on runner. 1st and 3rd situation – home is closed even if a play is made on the runner at second base. Age 11-12(May 1st). 6 innings, bases 65 feet, pitching mound 48 ft. Games start 15 minutes after Minors’ game finish. Free substitution. 7 runs per inning limit. 10 runs after 4 innings. Players can lead off and steal after the ball crosses the plate. Home plate is open. No playing down. In-field fly rule. Pitching Regular Season: 85 pitches in any 5 day period. 85 in 2 consecutive games. No reentry. Pitching Tournaments: 120 pitches in total tournament (play-in games don’t count). 85 pitches in 2 consecutive games. No reentry. Crash rule. All runners should make every attempt to avoid collision. Umpire discretion on intent. 1 Batter on Deck. Bats should be no more than 2 ¼ inches in diameter and no more than 33 inches in length. Softball consist of a 12 and under, a 14 and under, a 16 and under and an 18 and under group. Groups 12-16 play 5 innings. Mercy rule is 12 runs after 3 innings. 18 and under play 7 innings. with a mercy rule of 12 after 3 and 8 after 5. All players must wear a helmet with a face mask and a chin strap.12 and under pitch from 35′-40′. 14 and under pitch from 40′-43′. 16 and under pitch from 40′-43′. and 18 and under pitch from 43′-46′.
Practice schedules will depend on what the game schedules look like. Ultimately practice schedules are up to the coaches. So if there is any questions about practice schedules please contact your coaches.
Equipment will be handed out to the coaches. You do not need your own bats, catchers gear, or helmets, unless you would like to purchase them.
All Coaches need to have an AAU Card and be a Concussion Certified. There are no exceptions if you do not have these when the season starts you will not be able to coach. All Players must also be an AAU member. If they are not an AAU Member by the start of the season they will be unable to play until they become an AAU Member.Parents Remember that your AAU cards expire at the end of August Regardless of when you purchased it the previous year. All Registrations are due the week prior to practice.
